 Sikkim
is among India's smallest state situated between Nepal
and Bhutan. The capital, Gangtok, 'the hill made flat'
lies at an altitude of 5400 feet, facing Kanchenjunga,
the third highest summit in the world. It is reached
easily form Darjeeling, Bagdogra airport or Siliguri.
The most important place (building) in Gangtok is in
the southern part of the city; the Chogyal's Palace
usually closed to visitors.
For many years, Sikkim was regarded as one of the
last 'Shangrilas' in the Himalayan region because
of it's remoteness, it's spectacular mountain terrain,
varied flora & fauna and it's ancient Buddhist
monasteries. Trekking in this Kingdom is a superb
introduction to the Himalayas.
In this trek, exploratory options to the head of
the Rathong (6679m), Kabru (7371m) & Kabru Dome
(6600m) and a challenging trek to the Guicha La (4940m.)
