MOUNT
KAILASH
Mt. Kailash (6,714 m) in western Tibet is venerated
by both Hindus and Buddhists. For Hindus, the pyramidshaped
peak of Kailash is the abode of Lord Shiva. Buddhists
revere the mountain as the Jewel'of the Snow. Pilgrims,
holy men and monks journey from Nepal, India and
Tibet to make a ritual circumambulation of the sacred
mountain and bathe in the icy waters of Lake Manasarovar.
The lake is situated at an altitude of 4,570 m.
For the faithful, the strenuous trek and freezing
temperatures are worth it for earning religious
merit. The journey to Mt. Kailash and Lake Manasarovar
requires trekking on foot and driving. From Kathmandu,
we move out on the highway to Lhasa and turn west
at Zangmu for the cross- country trip to Kailash.
Traveling along the northern side of the Himalaya,
there are stark mind-boggling vistas of the Tibetan
plateau and endless grasslands where sheep and yaks
graze.

Kathmandu - Zhangmu (2300m) -
123Kms.
Drive Kathmandu to Kodari (approx. 06 hours)
to Zhangmu. Complete Custom formalities at Zhangmu
Immigration Post. O/N HTL. |

Zhangmu - Nyalam - 3800 m.
Drive to Nyalam which is 2-3 hours drive. O/N
camp. Relax for acclimatization. |
| Day 05: |
Nyalam - Saga
Drive to Saga via Peigu Tso (Lake) approx. 8
hours. Cross the high pass at Lalung-La 5050m.
O/N camp. |

Saga - Zhongba
Drive to Zhongba (6-8 hrs.). Dinner & O/N
at camp. |
| Day 07: |
Zhongba - Mayumla
Drive to Mayumla (7-8 hrs.). Dinner & O/N
at camp. |

Mayumla to Darchen
Drive to Darchen (5-6 hrs.). Dinner & O/N
at camp. |

Start Parikrama
After breakfast start walk around Mt. Kailash,
O/N at camp. |

After breakfast start walking (parikrama). Dinner
& O/N at camp. |

Drive to Lake Manasarovar (1-2 hrs). Dinner
& O/N at Lake Manasarovar camp. |

Free day in manasarovar
Drive to manasarovar. Dinner & O/N at camp. |
| Day 13: |
Manasarovar - Paryang.
Drive to Paryang (7-8 hrs). Dinner & O/N
at camp. |

Paryang - Zhongba
Drive to Zhongba (6-8 hrs). Dinner & O/N
at camp. |
| Day 15: |
Zhongba to Peigu Tso (Lake)
Drive to Peigu Tso. Dinner and O/N at camp. |
| Day 16: |
Peigu Tso - Nyalam
A long drive from Peigu Tso to Zhangmu. crossing
a high pass (Lalung La) 5020m. If the weather
is clear you will have a most beautiful view
of Choyu and other high snow peaks. |
| Day 17: |
After your breakfast, drive to
Zhangmu and walk to immigration and drive to
Kahtmandu. |
| Day 18: |
After breakfast, a visit to another
holy site in Kathmandu. |
| Day 19: |
Departure from Kathmandu for onward
journey. |
